As of Sept 1, 2024, there is a $50 co-pay due at the time of service for Seniors (65+) and Children’s (4-18) eye exams when insured by Alberta Health.
This fee covers all testing including retinal imaging (photos/OCT screener).
In most cases, the co-pay can be billed (often, direct billed) to your private insurance plan.
Contact lens services are additional and not included in this fee.
Those in our myopia control program are not billed the co-pay.
Why is there a co-pay?
At Modern Eye we are proud to provide comprehensive eye exams which focus not only on vision, but eye health as well.
Alberta Health Care reimbursement does not cover the full cost to our clinic to deliver these types of exams and does not cover imaging which is why we introduced this fee.
